🗳 Civic Reading of the Gospel – August 9, 2025
"If you have faith, nothing will be impossible for you."
🔍 Gospel Context
A desperate father brings his sick son to Jesus after the disciples fail. Jesus heals the child and explains that lack of faith is the cause of the failure.
🧭 Civic Reading: Faith as an Engine of Social Transformation
In our societies, as in this story, evil exists: illness, injustice, corruption, division. Often institutions fail to heal, protect, or transform. Why? Because collective faith is weak, fragmented, or absent.
💡 What Jesus Teaches Us for Civic Life
- Faith is not only spiritual; it is political, social, and communal.
- It gives courage to denounce injustice, support the weakest, and reform structures.
- Active faith can move the mountains of corruption, indifference, and fatalism.
> "Nothing will be impossible for you" is not a magical promise. It is an invitation to engagement, responsibility, and solidarity.
✊ Civic Call
- To heal our nations, we must believe in our capacity to act together.
- For a credible change, we must educate informed, brave, and truth‑committed citizens.
- To build a strong republic, we must cultivate trust in institutions and boldly reform them.
🙏 Civic Prayer
Lord,
Give our people an active faith,
a faith that heals, builds, and transforms.
May our leaders be faithful disciples,
may our citizens be sowers of justice.
Where evil divides, let your mercy unite.
Where institutions fail, let your truth restore.
Jesus, I trust in You.
For our nation, for our future, for our unity.🇬🇧
