There is no lower education, there can be no higher education; our educational system is structured around basic education, secondary education, and university education — thus forming the Cameroonian Academy.
To the attention of intellectuals, political leaders, opinion leaders, activists of all stripes, voters and citizens of good faith,
President Paul Biya has taken a historic and courageous decision: to hand over the Executive Power not as a simple divine gift passed down from his predecessor, the late His Excellency President Ahmadou B. AHIDJO, but through the ballot box. October 12, 2025 offers us an unprecedented opportunity to realize a peaceful, democratic, and calm transition — a fundamental turning point for the future of our dear Cameroon with the Candidate, President Bello Bouba MAÏGARI.
To you, bearers of wisdom, reflection, and the drive for change, this message is addressed. You are the yeast capable of making our society rise to a new day. Your responsibility is immense to build a united, strong, and stable Cameroon.
It is urgent to overcome the current engagement deficit, especially from some intellectuals. Too many prefer distant criticism, often from abroad, instead of concretely involving themselves. The example of Bernard Njonga shows that political commitment, decision-making power, and action on the ground are essential to move forward.
Among you, a tremendous force lies within Cameroonian universities. The state universities count several thousand professors — nearly 1,125 at Yaoundé I, 778 at Douala — and in 2018 a special hiring of 2,000 professors highlighted crucial needs. With more than 430 private universities, the intellectual potential is vast.
On the student side, nearly 500,000 enrolled in 2017-2018, a spectacular growth since 2012 when there were 222,000, represent a powerful university youth, bearing new ideas and vital dynamism for our society.
This social layer, made up of engaged intellectuals and numerous students, possesses the ease and impact necessary to lead a peaceful and promising transition. Their mobilization is essential to accompany the democratic change that is coming with President Bello Bouba MAÏGARI.
The engagement deficit feeds a painful responsibility escape visible in massive abstention. Voting is a civic duty. Waiting for a “messiah” or rejecting political diversity hinders our democracy. It is time to elevate the debate beyond identity quarrels and personal games, to the true service of Cameroon.
We launch a vibrant call: be engaged actors, bearers of solutions, builders of a new dynamic founded on responsibility, dialogue, and unity.
On October 12, 2025, together, let us choose a new Cameroon, a proud, democratic, and united Cameroon, with President Bello Bouba MAÏGARI, bearer of a clear and calming vision.
